Short bike ride for the whole family along striking liberation points in Oosterbeek.
On Sunday, September 17, 1944, Oosterbeek seems to be liberated from the German occupiers. Unfortunately, freedom was still a bridge too far. After the British troops withdrew across the Rhine in the night of September 25 to 26'44, the village was completely evacuated. At the final liberation in April 45, the Allied liberators found a ghost village. Peace came at a high price in Oosterbeek, enough reason to reflect on this together.
Many monuments and memorials in Oosterbeek remind us of the liberation and the period of construction in peacetime. That in combination with the breathtaking surroundings is enough reason to undertake this cycling tour. A tour in which you like to get off regularly.
