EventTheater Concertzaal Oosterbeek

The history of EventTheater Concertzaal Oosterbeek goes back to 1867. Then the writer Johannes Kneppelhout (1814-1885) bought a piece of land in the middle of Oosterbeek on which he had a studio with coffee room built. In 1869 he had the studio converted into a concert hall for his prot? G? Jan de Graan (1852-1874), a violinist who was considered a child prodigy. However, De Graan died before he could perform in the hall. For more than a century and a half, there has been a lot of singing, dancing, playing cards and parties in the building. The famous soprano Jo Vincent (1898-1989), for example, was here in her early years. In the Rijnzaal of the building hangs "View of Arnhem", a painting by Antoon Markus. He was a member of the Oostbeekse School: a movement that was inspired in the nineteenth century by the beautiful nature around Oosterbeek.
