Lab-44

The Lab-44 restaurant is located in the special building 197 on the Hembrug site. This striking building was the laboratory of the former arms and ammunition factory that used to be here. From 1918, this laboratory was used to develop chemical weapons such as the infamous mustard gas. Later the building was used, among other things, as a carpentry workshop. Nowadays you no longer notice this dark history in the building, but there is still a special industrial atmosphere here. The building has been completely restored and transformed into a multifunctional building with an attractive restaurant in the middle part, a terrace and various small-scale businesses such as a beer brewery and a liqueur distillery. Step inside this historic building and be surprised with all kinds of delicious snacks and drinks. Meat dishes, fish dishes, salads, pizzas, you get it all here. You can certainly satisfy your hunger with this after a bike ride or a walk in the Zaandam area.
