Description
Go out around Zeist and discover this beautiful area full of history. On this route you cycle through part of the Lustwarande, an area that developed into a holiday area for wealthy merchants and bankers from Amsterdam and Utrecht around 1850. You will find all kinds of beautiful country estates from this period here.
Historic country estates
The starting point of this route is at De Bilt. From here you set course for Bunnik and further to Odijk. You will successively pass the Houdringe estate, the Oostbroek estate, the Nienhof estate and the Bornia estate. These opulent showpieces of power and splendor are located in the most beautiful places in the landscape. Admire the beautiful country houses and their gardens to transport yourself back to times gone by. After cycling just over 9 kilometers you can stop at Postillion Hotel Utrecht Bunnik for a snack and a drink. Then you can hit the road again full of new energy.
Zeist Castle
A little further on in Zeist you will find the famous Slot Zeist. Fun activities are regularly organized here, but the castle itself is also worth a visit. From Zeist you cycle past Vollenhoven estate and Beerschoten estate back to the starting point of the route.
