Kevelaer, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Cycling route: 750697
Provided by: Erfgoed Gelderland
On this swampy and wooded route you broadly follow the flow of the Niers river, which flows into the Maas north of Gennep. From Kevelaer you first cycle towards Weeze and the Kalbecker Busch to Goch. In the Middle Ages, the Niers between Weeze and Goch formed the border between the Overkwartier and the Duchy of Cleves. After Goch the route continues to Asperen.
This route is part of the long-distance route Grenzen van Gelre . Discover your Gelderland roots in 10 border regions, 44 routes and 900 kilometers. Each route can be cycled separately. The routes in the Netherlands run via cycling junctions. In Germany the cycle route can only be followed using GPS or the map on route.nl.
