Tourist landmark
Weeze
Most of the city center of Weeze was created in the past 75 years, because after the end of the Second World War, eighty percent of the city was in ruins and had to be rebuilt. The capture of the city in March 1945 by Canadian and British forces had left its mark. But drastic events also took place earlier in the war. In December 1944, many Weezen residents were evacuated to Th? Rings and on February 24, 1945, Wehrmacht soldiers blew the church tower, so that the Allies could not use it as a lookout point.
