Pancake route Eibergen, Haaksbergen and Mallum

From your starting point you will first discover the heathland and forest area of Witte Veen, which used to be a popular border crossing for smugglers. If you cross the Buurserbeek you will pass the Haarmühle, a 350 year old watermill. Get off for lunch at Hooge Esch Buurse Pannenkoekenrestaurant and then cycle to Oldenkotte, a hamlet on the border with Germany. Near Eibergen is the Mallumse Molen, a water mill from 1748. You will also see a beautiful monumental half-timbered barn here. A landscape artist has now constructed a labyrinth at the location of Mallum's manor. Back you cycle through the Buurserzand and the Haakbergerveen. The juniper bush is rare and protected in the Netherlands. The growth of this plant makes the Buurserzand special, but what is extra special is that they are more than 150 years old here!
