Start in the Hanseatic city of Doesburg
Park your car in the free parking lot on the edge of Doesburg and cycle to Kerkstraat. There you will find the first cycle junction sign. These signs are your guide on the route from Doesburg to Zutphen, along the IJssel. Before you leave, first visit Museum Lalique in Doesburg with beautiful glass art by René Lalique. But don't forget the Doesburgschee Mosterdmuseum and the mustard factory. Mustard has been made there for hundreds of years. If you come on the first Sunday of the month, all galleries in Doesburg have open houses with nice music and special tours.
Many sights along the way
The 51-kilometre cycle route goes back and forth across the IJssel. Along the way, you cycle past a beautiful mill, through the smallest town in the Netherlands (Bronkhorst) and through a beautiful garden that was laid out in the English landscape style. Immediately after Zutphen, you pass a city farm with special paintings. At the traffic lights next to the bridge, you have a beautiful view of Zutphen Torenstad. Then the route continues through Brummen towards Dieren, where you will find an organic vineyard at the end of the tour.
Zutphen Tower City
In Zutphen you will find a medieval street pattern from the Hanseatic period, many courtyards and countless specialty shops. Of course there are plenty of terraces for a bite to eat and a drink. Zutphen gathered its wealth in the Hanseatic period - and you can still see that! Take a Hanseatic walk and enjoy the history.
