A standard wooden mill stood here as early as 1482. The inhabitants of Bronkhorst were obliged to have their corn ground at this mill. In 1844 the mill burned down on the night of 17 to 18 May. The current stone mill was then built as a successor to the burnt mill. Until just after the Second World War, the mill was in operation as a grinding tool. When the blades were stopped, the mill fell into disrepair. In 1958 a committee? collected money to have the mill partially restored, which was completed in 1960. The mill was the first mill in the Netherlands to receive rotating bonuses and a counter for the operating hours. For example, the government contributed to the exploitation of the mill, which remained in private hands. This construction gave rise to a conflict, which brought the mill to a standstill again. The mill was then transferred to a foundation. That foundation was able to tap all kinds of money sources, so that the mill could be operational again. The mill can be visited on Saturdays.
