From here you will discover the Wekeromse, a sand drift where you will also find forest and heathland. Small salamanders live in the fens and streams. The nearby Edese forest is one of the oldest forests in the area. If you cycle through here you will regularly encounter riders, because there are several riding trails through the area. On the edge of the Ginkelse heath, the forest is bordered by the Tra. Here you will find Scots pines that are more than a hundred years old. You will also pass one of the oldest windmills in the Netherlands: the Doesburgermolen. This closed standard flour mill from around 1620 still has an old tail construction. In the past, the mill was probably an open post mill.
