HANZETOUR Deventer Zutphen 2020

Your day out starts with a cup of coffee at Tapperij/Eethuis't Hof van Colmschate. This cycling route takes you past the beautiful Hanseatic cities of Deventer and Zutphen. Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Between 1000 and 1500 it developed into a trading center. Deventer was a member of the German Hanseatic League, intended to promote trade between cities and offer merchants protection. Zutphen is also sometimes called the Tower City, because of its many historic towers. A large part was built in the Hanseatic period. Herring, butter and beer were transported from Zutphen via the IJssel, Rhine and sea. In the center of the city you will see beautifully decorated warehouses, merchant houses and churches. The cities are connected by the beautiful IJssel, a wonderful cycling area!
