Het Deventer Koekwinkeltje
The history of the Deventer cake dates back to 1417. Cake was traded to Hanseatic cities such as Bergen in Norway. In 1593 there were thirteen biscuit bakers in the city, and by 1637 the guild had as many as twenty-five members. Today at Brink 84 you will find Het Deventer Koekwinkeltje of Jb. Bussink. In this cozy little shop, Deventer cake is still baked every day according to an ancient and secret recipe.
