Historic monuments and villages
The starting point of this route is close to the Zorgvrij information farm, in the middle of the Spaarnwoude recreation area. Visit this organic dairy farm to learn more about farm life or view the artist's exhibition on the farm. Then it's time to get on your bike and hit the road. From here you cycle through the green recreation area to Spaarnwoude, Haarlemmerliede and Spaarndam. Along the way you can take a look at various historical monuments such as the Kleine Veer windmill, the Stompe Toren and various forts that are part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Take the time to take a look at villages such as Haarlemmerliede, Spaarnwoude and Spaarndam.
The various fortresses that you can admire on this route are part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. This defense line of more than 35 kilometers was constructed between 1880 and 1914 to protect Amsterdam. The structures that are part of this line are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
