In the northwest of Brabant you cycle through a vast landscape of vast grasslands. You will also find a rich cultural history, such as in Willemstad.
Fortress Willemstad
From Klundert you drive to Noordschans, a village named after the former Fort Hollandia, which was lost in a flood in 1682. You then drive along a quiet dike road between the grasslands. In the distance you occasionally see the water of the Hollands Diep. In Willemstad you cycle through the historic heart. You can see many beautiful monuments here, such as the Mauritshuis from 1623.
Fortress Hell
You pass Fort de Hel. This fortress was built by the French in 1811, a nice break. Just past Dinteloord it is time for a break. You continue through the vast landscape over winding dikes. Get some fresh air while enjoying the peace and quiet. Klundert is the end point of your route. Here you can view the old fortifications, among other things.
