The Zaanse Schans and the Dutch lowlands

Your route starts at the White Ranch. The Zaanse Schans is world famous. The neighborhood with its wooden houses is so unique and beautiful that many people would like to see it for a second (or tenth!). It is best to walk through the Zaanse Schans with your bicycle in hand, so you get the most beautiful impressions. The surrounding polders are also made by people. Here you can enjoy characteristic views over vast meadows and ditches. The Neckermolen is a polder mill from 1631. In the historic heart of Purmerend you can admire beautiful buildings before you drive to the Paterspoel with Suzanna Sluis. You cycle through the Twiske nature reserve with its mix of forest and water. Finally, you pass through Oostzaan and the picturesque Westzaan.
