Tour of Tubbergen and Engbertsdijksvenen

Your route starts at Gast Tweewielers on the outskirts of Vasse. Further on, you'll pass through Tubbergen, where you'll see several beautiful historic buildings, such as the Eeshof from 1719. The characteristic Twente bocage landscape gives way to expansive meadows and fields. This is not surprising: peat was extracted in this region in the nineteenth century as fuel for the Twente textile industry. You'll pass the Veenmuseum Westerhaar, an open-air museum. On the edge of Vroomshoop, you'll enjoy a refreshing break at Brasserie Restaurant "De Aanleg." At junction 3, you'll cycle for a short distance through the Engbertsdijksvenen, a vast peatland area with heathland, forests, and fens. It's a remnant of the large peat bog that once covered the northeast of the Netherlands. Finally, you'll cycle around Mander through the beautiful Mosbeek valley.
