Historical sights
You start your tour on the edge of the North Holland Dune Reserve. Park your car here and then set off towards Heemskerk and Beverwijk through the Assumburg castle garden. This beautiful castle garden was laid out about 300 years ago in a French Classicist style. Even today the garden is a true gem to see. Then you walk on to the next historical attraction: the Fort at Veldhuis. This fort is one of the older structures of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Via Velsen you then walk to IJmuiden and pass the Engelmundus Church, the ruins of Brederode and the Duin & Kruidberg Estate.
Sailing with the water taxi
In IJmuiden you get into the water taxi that takes you to the other side of the water. While sailing you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Fort Island IJmuiden. On the way to Wijk aan Zee you can take a look at the A Sea of Steel sculpture garden and continue walking through the Paasduinen.
