Your route starts at Brasserie VRZGRD. The Wekeromse Zand is an area between Lunteren and Wekerom with active drifting sands. Active drifting sand no longer occurs outside the Netherlands in Northwestern Europe, so this landscape is certainly special. This route takes you along this drifting sand area and the surrounding heathlands that are bursting with historical traces. This area was already inhabited in the Iron Age. Nowadays you will find the largest Celtic Fields complex in the Netherlands here. Celtic Fields are prehistoric fields that consist of small-scale fields and are surrounded by ramparts. A little further on you can take a look at an old Germanic well. This pit, several meters deep, was used in the Iron Age by Germanic farmers from the area. This well dates from around 300 BC.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
