Cycle past modern additions, such as the De Rotterdam building by architect Koolhaas and the Markthal by the architectural firm MVRDV. You'll also encounter familiar faces like the Euromast, designed by the aptly named Maaskant. In Rotterdam, you'll encounter two works by architects Brinkman and Van der Vlugt: De Kuip, a must-see if you're in Rotterdam, and the Van Nelle Factory, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Piet Blom's cube houses are perhaps among the city's most striking buildings. Be sure to visit the Kijk-Kubus (View-Cube) to experience what it's like to live in one for yourself.
The Meuse River flows right through the city, and you'll cross it twice on this cycling route. You'll do this entirely in the architectural style. One time, you'll cycle through the 1942 Maas Tunnel, designed by Van Bruggen and Van der Steur. The other time, you'll cycle over Van Berkel's iconic Erasmus Bridge.
