Description
Your route starts at Café Restaurant De Toerist. This route takes you through beautiful nature reserves and special villages. First you cycle to Spaarnwoude, an extensive nature and recreation area. You cycle through forests, peat meadow areas and polder landscapes. You also cycle along the banks of the Mooie Nel lake. Along the water you will find the historic defense works Fort aan de Lieburg and Fort bij Penningsveer. Just before Spaarndam you will pass the Slokop, a thatched polder mill from 1877. Take plenty of time to take a look at the ruins of Brederode. These are the remains of Brederode Castle that was built in 1318. In the season it is possible to visit these ruins. Fun exhibitions and events are regularly held here.
