Description
Your route starts at Café Restaurant De Toerist. This route takes you through beautiful nature reserves and special villages. First you drive to Spaarnwoude, an extensive nature and recreation area. Here you cycle through forests, peat meadow areas and polder landscapes. You will also drive along the banks of the Mooi Nel lake. Along the water you will find the historic defense works Fort aan de Lieburg and the Fort at Penningsveer. Just before Spaarndam you pass the Slokop, a thatched polder mill from 1877. Take plenty of time to take a look at the ruins of Brederode. These are the remains of Brederode Castle, which was built in 1318. In season it is possible to visit this ruin. Fun exhibitions and events are regularly held here.
