A surprising round of Haringvliet

From the Deltahaven you can cycle a beautiful round along the banks of the Haringvliet. This surprising route introduces you to special nature, the harbor of Hellevoetsluis and Stellendam.

Voornes Dune
You immediately drive onto the Haringvlietdam, the sixth construction of the Delta Works that was completed in 1970. The 17 sluices have a length of almost 1000 meters and have recently become a national monument. At Voorne Putten you drive into a spur of Voornes Duin, a beautiful quiet forest and dune area. A little further you can see the bird-rich Quackgors nature reserve from the dike. A wonderful place to stop and enjoy the panoramic view.

Hellevoetsluis
There is much to see in the old harbor of Hellevoetsluis. You cross the Haringvliet by boat, a wonderful experience. Don't forget your binoculars! You cycle through the polder to Stellendam where you can see Molen Korenlust from 1865. A little further on you arrive in the Deltahaven, the home port for about 50 cutters.

In the old harbor of Hellevoetsluis you can see the eighteen meter high lighthouse from 1822. A little further on is De Hoop, a corn mill from 1801. You can visit the Dry Dock Jan Blanken that was built between 1798 and 1822. This oldest preserved dock in the Netherlands is unique in its construction. The ship door, a French invention, was unique in the Netherlands at the time.
