Enjoying the outskirts of Zutphen

In the wooded area around Zutphen it is wonderful to make miles. This route takes you through beautiful villages such as Almen and Gorssel. You will also pass Castle Den Bramel.

Green Gorssel
After you have ridden your legs along the beautiful green banks of the Twenthe Canal, you drive into the countryside near Gorssel. Around this village you cycle through a mosaic of forests, small-scale landscapes and flowery fields and fields. You can also see Molen Geertruida Cornelia, a corn mill from 1893. Near the IJssel you will pass the Ravenswaarden. This unique nature reserve is one of the best preserved Dutch winding values.

Den Bramel
After driving past the Warkense Molen from 1878, you pass Kasteel Den Bramel a little further on. There has been a castle here since the fourteenth century, the current building was built in 1726. The surrounding estate is open to the public. A little later you drive through the Het Grote Veld nature reserve. Fragrant conifers and shady deciduous trees alternate here. In Almen you can enjoy a drink and meal at Landhotel De Hoofdige Boer.
