Provided by: route.nl
Around Schagen you can cycle beautifully through the vast polder landscape with its high Dutch skies. This route takes you through Schagen and some other picturesque towns. You start at Automuseum Schagen, where you can take a look before you leave. Travel back in time when cars were still special and not everyone drove a car. Then you cycle into the polder. Until the twelfth century, the Zijpe and Hazepolder consisted of raised bogs. Reclamation caused the land to drop in elevation, increasing the risk of flooding. You drive through old and interesting polder villages such as Burgerbrug and Sint Maartenbrug and you spot various windmills along the way. You also cycle past Museum Historical Harenkarspel and Museum Eenigenburg. A varied cycling route with a lot of culture!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
