Description
This walk between Hardenberg and Ommen is the second part of a multi-day walk on the Vechtdal route . The entire route takes you from Coevorden to Ommen and this route follows part of the Pieterpad, the most famous long-distance walking route in the Netherlands. During this walking tour you can enjoy the quiet areas on the banks of the Vecht between Hardenberg and Ommen.
Junne's artistic fish ladders
On the way to Ommen you will pass the fish ladders near Junne. This is a diversion around the weir at Junne and Diffelen that gives fish the opportunity to swim up and down the river from the weir. Before the construction of these fish ladders, fish regularly got stuck in the water of the weir. The fish can now swim freely around the weir and the fish ladders also look special.
Het Laer estate
Via Junne you then set course for Ommen. Just before you reach the end of the route, you walk past Landgoed het Laer. This estate contains an old manor that has been beautifully rebuilt and renovated over the centuries. Eventually you arrive at Ommen train station, where you can board the train to travel back home.
