From Afferden to Mook

From Afferden you drive along the floodplains of the Maas. Every now and then the path comes closer to the riverbank, so you have a nice view of the rippling water. Just above Gennep you cycle through the Niersdal with its grasslands, wet bushes and swamp forests. The Genneperhuis once stood near the place where the Niers flows into the Maas. The history of this fortress goes all the way back to a Roman fortification. There is now a watchtower on the foundations. You cycle further along the Maas to Mook, the northernmost town in Limburg. You make a pit stop at Hip & Cozy, after which you cycle along the Mookerplas to Plasmolen. You cover the last part of this route in the extensive forests of the Maasduinen National Park. To enjoy!
