For this route I chose the parking lot at"Kasteel Hoensbroek\\\" as a starting point, there is almost always room for free parking here.
The route can of course also be started from train station"Schinnen\\\"
I have chosen as many unpaved or paved country roads as possible, so you often get to the most beautiful places.
As a result, it is possible that after rain some paths are difficult to pass, especially along streams such as the Geleenbeek and the Platsbeek, the route is"not wheelchair and pram friendly\\\".
In Kasteel Hoensbroek you can visit the restaurant without paying an entrance fee.
Just indicate at the tourist information desk.
From Castle Hoensbroek it goes via the Geleenbeek, past the Schurenberg towards the outer ring, which is followed a bit towards Nuth.
Immediately after passing the motorway, the route turns left towards Platsbeek, from here it is usually a bit soggy, especially after rain.
Following the route you will reach"de Pletsmolen\\\" where the terrace is also open during the season.
From here it goes via a wooden walkway towards the fish ponds of Nierhoven, again along the Platsbeek, which is followed as far as possible.
Via via it goes to Terstraten where several beautifully renovated old farms can be seen, unfortunately not on view due to private property, it remains beautiful.
Via the Central Plateau you can enjoy the view at Model Aircraft Club Thermiek'58, here you are at the highest point in the area.
When flying, feel free to chat with the pilots present, they are usually happy to share information about the hobby they practice.
Here you are halfway through the route, after which it also becomes a bit more hilly.
The route continues through the"Nuther Kruuts\\\" and further on the"Maria Kapel Nagelbeek\\\" to Schinnen, here too you can see beautifully restored buildings, one with two large watchdogs with a red handkerchief around the neck, in front of the door, they don't bite, they are petrified.
Passing the train track straight ahead, don't be distracted by the navigation, which goes wrong here, just like 300 meters further on.
Horses can be seen on the right before the Geleenbeek, and a little further on the left a deer park.
Again at the chapel "Maria Kapel Schinnen\\\" on the corner, pay attention here, too, the navigation misses the road, here you have to go up the Zandberg.
Now the road gets steep, but that's why you're in Limburg.
If you think you are at the top, you have to cross the main road, then after about 10 meters it goes up again, at the top of the mountain immediately before the buildings, the navigation is not quite right again, here you have to take a staircase very sharply to the right, past the grape fields, following the road you will always see right from your Schinnen, especially the church of Schinnen catches the eye.
Following the road further you will come down to a steep staircase, be careful here, at the bottom of the stairs you turn left and then immediately up again to the right,"don\\\" stay on the paved road, fog is also here the navi sometimes the way.
Further on it goes right, left without deviating from the path, the end of the path now goes fairly steeply down to the Köllerweg, (Keulsesweg for the rest of the Netherlands).
You follow this for about 20 meters to the left, then sharply right again onto the field road. (Navi is also a bit vague here)
From here follow the road to the Schinveldervoetpad, turn left here and continue the road again.
After the sports fields of Oirsbeek, following the hard cycle path on the right, the traffic will of course give priority to the left, at the top of the mountain it turns right, towards Thull.
You can choose here, continue the route straight through and at the bottom of the mountain, but the best thing is to follow the route to the right towards the Mulderplas and"de Muldermolen\\\", here you can relax and enjoy a terrace peck. and enjoy the beautiful mural that has only recently been applied.
After a beer or a cup of coffee it continues for the last kilometers, but beware, the navi sometimes handles crossings in the route a bit strange, just follow the map.
From the Ketelweg it goes back into the woods and fields, just as steeply up and then steeply down again to the 2nd part of the Thullerbos towards Vaesrade, from here the field roads on this route are up and we follow the paved road back to the end point Castle Hoensbroek and let's hope that the terrace of the castle is still open for a last refreshment.
I hope this route has been a nice experience and maybe I will hear from it again someday.
