Description

This route from the Briltil landing stage goes through the peat areas west of the city of Groningen. The Leekstermeer is centrally located here. The route goes around the lake, visits two lakeside resorts and partly runs through the Onlanden. This is a new nature reserve with hay meadows, swamp forest and lots of water. As a water storage facility, it must ensure dry feet for the city of Groningen residents in wet times. It is a paradise for birds.

Description, sights and things to know
# Until Enumatil the trip takes the road (Hoendiep East side) along the Hoendiep. This waterway was dug in the 17th century and was part of the first waterway connection between the city of Groningen and Friesland. After Briltil it continued west under the name Kolonelsdiep. (This deep is described in the cycle route'AbelTasmanKolonelsdiep\\\', no. 1860545).
# In Enumatil the route continues over the beautiful antique swing bridge. At Aunt Til in the Dorpsstraat it is a very pleasant place to have a snack and a drink.
# Via De Klap, over the Matsloot to the cycle path over the Lettelberterdijk. This path runs along the Lettelberterdiep, the waterway to the Leekstermeer. There are water basins on the left and right of this low peat area.
Due to the intersection with the A7 motorway, cyclists must make a small detour via junction 50.
# The Hoofdstraat forms the age-old connection between the Vredewold area and the city of Groningen. The route goes along this road until about 50 meters after the bridge over the Lettelberterdiep and then turns left onto the cycle path, again along thediep.
# Where it ends deep in the Leekstermeer there is a small lookout tower. It offers a beautiful view of the lake and Pavilion Cnossen in the distance. The cycle path bends to the right and then runs along the Leekster Hoofddiep. Follow the path to the cycle bridge over the Diep and turn left over the bridge.
# The cycle route follows the cycle path and then the Meerweg towards Holiday Park Cnossen Leekstermeer. The park offers camping options, water sports entertainment, a restaurant and a beautiful terrace overlooking the lake.
# The route continues via junction 83 to 39. It is worthwhile to drive to the center of Roderwolde, to Woldzigt, the large oil mill. It is also nice to relax in café Het Rode Hert. It is also clear that Roderwolde is again at a sand level. Then back to junction 39 and on to 17. The route goes via the'Onlanden Mijmerbank\\\', a nice place to rest and enjoy this new nature reserve.
# After junction 17 there is another holiday park on the left. This is the north-eastern side of the Leekstermeer with a terrace with a beautiful view at Paviljoen Pool.
# The route continues by road (aptly named Hooilanden) along the A7, over the Munnikesloot to junction 58. About 100 meters before the road bends sharply to the left, before the Hoofdstraat viaduct over the A7, it is on the left the Lettelbert bird watching hut. Maybe worth taking a look.
# The route returns via junction 50 to the starting point in Briltil.
