You can enjoy cycling between the villages and in the North Holland Dune Reserve. Many hawthorns used to grow in the Meijendel nature reserve, hence the name. Inland you will see many trees, but closer to the sea you will encounter more sandy areas with marram grass. Most of the ponds in the area are infiltration ponds, but there are also natural dune pans to be seen. The bunkers in the dunes date from the Second World War. The lake bat, which hunts above the Meijendel fens, hibernates here. The Backershagen and Wiltzanck estates are located in Wassenaar, which is known for its spacious plots and beautiful villas. Get off nearby at the Stal den Hollander farm shop! Further on you will pass De Paauw Estate, the associated country house from 1556, which is used as the town hall of Wassenaar.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
