Tour of Schoonhoven and Nieuwpoort

Your walking route starts at Restaurant Rivero Schoonhoven. You immediately cross the Lek on a ferry to Nieuwpoort, a fortified town where you can spot many national monuments. You walk a bit over the star-shaped rampart and straight through the old center. Once back on the north bank of the Lek, you will see beautiful monumental buildings in the historic part of Schoonhoven, such as the Waag from 1617. The Grote or Bartholomeüskerk originally dates from the thirteenth century, but has been renovated over time. Schoonhovens Edelambachtshuys, a museum about silversmithing, is located in the former synagogue. Halfway through the route and also at the end, you will return to your starting point, where you can enjoy a tasty bite to eat throughout the day.
