Description
This version of the Oeverland Route crosses almost all of the Netherlands. On this tour you cycle along important historical waterways from Dutch history. Along the way you will come across one sight after another.
Old cities
The route starts in the Schoorlse Duinen. What follows next is one historical place after another. You will pass through the old inner cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht,'s-Hertogenbosch and Maastricht. You also visit the smaller towns, because it is precisely there that you can feel the atmosphere of times gone by. While cycling you will see ancient farms, castles, Dutch polder mills and country estates on the Vecht. In short, you get a unique view of the history of the Netherlands.
Strabrecht Heide
Along the way you have plenty of choice of comfortable overnight addresses. You will also not lack cozy terraces and restaurants to strengthen the inner man. Just past Eindhoven, for example, you can make a pit stop at De Strabrechtse Hoeve, before crossing the Strabrechtse Heide. In the Meuse valley you cross the border with Belgium, you will come across the beautiful ancient Market of Maaseik. The route ends just outside Maastricht.
