A vast landscape awaits you in the Gelderse Vallei. Here you will find peace and sights, such as Stoutenburg Estate. You will also pass through Nijkerk, a pleasant town.
Stoutenburg estate
The landscape may become rougher in the Bloeidal nature reserve. It gives you beautiful pictures of flowery meadows, marshlands, waving reeds and bustling streams. This is how the entire Gelderse Vallei once looked. You can learn more about this in the coach house on the historic Stoutenburg Estate. Further on you will see Den Olden Florus, one of the oldest existing post mills in the Netherlands.
Nijkerk
Just before Nijkerk you pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1888. In the heart of Nijkerk you will find many monuments, such as the beautiful centuries-old Grote Kerk. Further on you drive through Arkemheen National Landscape. This peat meadow area with its age-old subdivision pattern is known for its peace and space. There is hardly a tree or house to be seen. From the Zeedijk you look out to the right over the Nijkerkernauw. Get some fresh air before you drive back to Hoevelaken.
