Description
In the Gelderse Vallei you will find a wide landscape. Here you will find peace and sights, such as Landgoed Stoutenburg. You will also pass through Nijkerk, a pleasant town.
Stoutenburg Estate
In the Bloeidaal nature reserve, the landscape is allowed to become overgrown. It provides you with beautiful pictures of flowery meadows, marshland, waving reeds and bubbling streams. This is how the entire Gelderse Vallei once looked. You can learn more about this in the coach house on the historic Stoutenburg estate. Further on, you will see Den Olden Florus, one of the oldest still existing post mills in the Netherlands.
Nijkerk
Just before Nijkerk you will pass De Hoop, a corn mill from 1888. In the heart of Nijkerk you will find many monuments, such as the beautiful centuries-old Grote Kerk. Further on you will drive through the Arkemheen National Landscape. This peat meadow area with its centuries-old parcelling pattern is known for its peace and space. There is hardly a tree or house to be seen. From the Zeedijk you look out over the Nijkerkernauw on the right. Get some fresh air before you drive back to Hoevelaken.
