Description

This route takes you along the castles and estates west of Lochem. You can also take a look at the Staring Dome, which can be reached via a foot ferry. Vineyard De Braoke has been a vineyard since 2003 with grape varieties that are resistant to mildew. The grape varieties ripen well in a cool climate. It has been known for centuries that winegrowers have to choose between a lot or tasty. If all trusses remain hanging, a large yield is possible. But the result is a thin, watery wine with no aftertaste. A strong yield limitation (by cutting away many trusses) produces a concentrated wine with a nice aftertaste. Vineyard Braoke has opted for the latter. It is definitely recommended to visit here and taste the delicious wines. De Nieuwe Aanleg is located in the triangle Deventer-Zutphen-Lochem on the Twente Canal and has its own marina and camping pitches. The Staring dome is located between junctions 17 and 16, just over the Berkel. The tea cupola was built about 150 years ago. The client was the youngest daughter of the famous poet ACW Staring. Until her death in 1893, she often visited the dome to enjoy the peace and nature. A poem by her father is written on one of the walls. The dome can be visited daily from sunrise to sunset. Free entrance, accessible by foot ferry across the Berkel. The name Huis Velhorst was first used in 1506. The house was donated to Natuurmonumenten in 1972. Around the country house is a park garden with a pond, beech avenues, rhododendrons and azaleas. Huis Velhorst cannot be visited. There are old camps along the Berkel River, fields that have been given a convex shape through centuries of fertilization. On the estate you will see authentic farms with painted shutters, hedgerows, orchards and flowery grasslands. The Kienveen is a vulnerable wet area with many frogs and special plants. The Schapendijk runs from this intersection to the north and is part of the sandy road system through Het Grote Veld, a vast nature reserve. A large part of this area belongs to the Hackfort estate and is owned by Natuurmonumenten. De Boskamp is the name of a farm and a country house, which are located opposite each other on the Gazoorweg, just east of junction 81. At junction 44 we find the Warkense Molen. With wind the mill turns and with sufficient wind the mill is also milled. Many old baker's tools and machines can be seen in the museum. A part is also furnished as a nostalgic bakery shop with an old counter and cash register. On special occasions there are bread baking demonstrations with the fagot oven.
