Nagele
You cycle through Nagele, which was built by the De Acht architectural group, which included architects such as Gerrit Rietveld and Aldo van Eyck. Straight lines and surfaces have been consistently applied, which makes the village unique. Museum Nagele focuses on special architecture. You also cycle past the former island of Schokland, with the national monument the Lichtwachterswoning.
Weerribben-Wieden
You cycle further through Vollenhove and Sint Jansklooster, along the edge of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Just before you return to your starting point you will see the Ketelmeer looming again. In the western part of the Ketelmeer, Rijkswaterstaat has constructed the new Hanzerak-West navigation channel, so you see many large ships there. The Ketelmeer is one of the Veluwerandmeers. These lakes form a water buffer and keep the water level of the old land high. They are vital!
