Nagele
You cycle through Nagele, which was built by the De Acht architectural group, which included architects such as Gerrit Rietveld and Aldo van Eyck. Straight lines and planes have been applied consistently, which makes the village unique. Museum Nagele focuses on the special architecture. You will also cycle past the former island of Schokland, with the national monument of the Lichtwachterswoning.
Weerribben-Wieden
You continue cycling through Vollenhove and Sint Jansklooster, along the edge of Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Just before you get back to your starting point you will see the Ketelmeer looming again. Rijkswaterstaat has constructed the new Hanzerak-West fairway in the western part of the Ketelmeer, so you will see many large ships there. The Ketelmeer is one of the Veluwerandmeren. These lakes form a water buffer and keep the water level of the old land high. They are vital!
