Description
You can take a beautiful walk around Nieuw-Bergen through the Maasduinen National Park. Put on your sturdy shoes for a tour full of variety.
Driessenven
Soon you enter the Maasduinen. Around the Eendenmeer you walk through woods and especially heathland. You see cap and bush heather, sometimes a shepherd with herd walks here. Beautiful! Further on you pass the Driessenven: this former swamp area is now an oasis of peace between forest and heath.
Heuloer pants
Further on you will pass the Reindersmeer. This lake was created by gravel extraction. You have a beautiful view of the rippled water here, while you walk a little higher up on the shifting sand. It is wonderfully quiet here. Ideal to clear your head and relax. The last part of the route you walk through the Heuloërbroek, a small-scale nature reserve in the Maasdal. You walk here through a mosaic of rugged grasslands, alder swamp forests and willow thickets.
