Walking through the area around Stellendam

From Stellendam you can take a beautiful walk through the countryside of Goeree-Overflakkee. You walk through wide polders and through the nature reserve Slikken van Flakkee.

Stellebos
From't Wapen van Stellendam you walk to your first attraction: De Korenlust. This beautiful corn mill dates back to 1856. Further on you walk a bit through the Stellebos, a nature reserve that was created in 1978. It is wonderfully quiet walking here, just like on the car-free Zandgorsweg that leads you along an old dike and vast meadows. On a shady path you walk along the Spui to Goedereede.

Goodreede
At junction 46 you can turn off for a moment to take a look at the historic centre of Goedereede. Or you can walk back into the vast polders. Along the waterways you can hear birds and frogs in the reeds, on the horizon you can see trees that are slightly bent by the dominant westerly wind. The last part of the route you walk along the Slikken van Flakkee. This nature reserve consists of mudflats and salt marshes that are overgrown with rye, grasses and scrub.
