Walking through the area of Stellendam

From Stellendam you can take a nice walk through the rural area of Goeree-Overflakkee. You walk through vast polders and through the Slikken van Flakkee nature reserve.

Stellebos
From't Wapen van Stellendam you walk to your first sight: De Korenlust. This beautiful flour mill dates from 1856. Further on you walk a bit through the Stellebos, a nature reserve that was created in 1978. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk here, just like on the car-free Zandgorsweg that leads you along an old dike and extensive meadows. You walk along a leafy path along the Spui to Goedereede.

Goedereede
At junction 46 you can turn off to take a look at the historic center of Goedereede. Or you can walk back into the wide polders. Along the canals you hear birds and frogs in the reeds, and on the horizon you see trees that have been slightly bent by the dominant west wind. The last part of the route you walk along the Slikken van Flakkee. This nature reserve consists of mudflats and salt marshes that are overgrown with rye, grasses and shrubs.
