Cycling along the dunes near Haarlem

The dunes near Haarlem are great for cycling. You also cycle through Zandvoort, Noordwijkerhout and Bloemendaal. That will be a day of enjoying natural beauty and sights.

National Park
The route starts at Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg. First, grab a bite to eat on a terrace, so that you get on your bike with enough energy. First, you cycle through the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. Here you can enjoy the forests, the dunes covered with dune grass and the silence. Further on, you cycle along the beach boulevard. Get some fresh air, while you look out over the surf of the North Sea. You visit the pleasant Zandvoort, after which you cycle back into the dunes.

Ruins of Brederode
Noordwijkerhout is a pleasant village, you can see here among other things the White Church from 1300. Further on you come along the recreation area the Oosterduinse Meer. You drive for a while through the polders, after which you cycle back into the dune forests. In the area of Aerdenhout and Bloemendaal you can admire several stately villas. Castle Brederode dates back to the thirteenth century. In the nineteenth century the ruin was restored a little and it was the first national monument to go down in the books.
