Cycling along the dunes near Haarlem

It is wonderful to cycle in the dunes near Haarlem. You also drive through Zandvoort, Noordwijkerhout and Bloemendaal. That will be a day of enjoying natural beauty and sights.

National Park
The route starts at Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg. First grab a terrace with something tasty, so that you get on your bike with enough energy. First you drive through National Park Zuid-Kennemerland. Here you can enjoy the woods, the dunes covered with dune grass and the silence. Further on you drive along the beach boulevard. Get a breath of fresh air, while overlooking the surf of the North Sea. You visit the cozy Zandvoort, after which you drive back into the dunes.

Ruins of Brederode
Noordwijkerhout is a pleasant village, where you can see the White Church from 1300. Further on you will pass the Oosterduinse Meer recreational area. You drive through the polders for a while, after which you cycle back into the dune forests. In the vicinity of Aerdenhout and Bloemendaal you can admire some stately villas. Brederode Castle dates back to the thirteenth century. In the nineteenth century, the ruin was slightly restored and it entered the books as the first national monument.
