Cycling through the authentic Alblasserwaard

In the Alblasserwaard you will find an authentic cultural landscape of quays, tithe roads, windmills and watercourses. Get on your bike and come and experience the charm of this region. It is nice to cycle along the river De Alblas. You drive past pollard willows and old farms. You will also come across a few windmills, such as the Kooijwijkse Molen from 1866 and the Kortlandse Molen from 1890. It is wonderfully quiet in the middle of the polders. Further on you cross the Lek, cycling on the dike you have a beautiful view of the rippling water and the boats. You pass through Nieuwpoort, a fortified town where you can spot many national monuments. You can get off at Streekcentrum Ooievaarsdorp Het Liesvelt before cycling back to Vertoeven bij Verhoeven via Molensgraaf and Bleskensgraaf.
