Cycling through the authentic Alblasserwaard

In the Alblasserwaard you will find an authentic cultural landscape of quays, tithe roads, mills and waterways. Get on your bike and experience the charm of this region. It is beautiful to cycle along the river De Alblas. You cycle past pollard willows and old farms. You will also come across a few mills, such as the Kooijwijkse Molen from 1866 and the Kortlandse Molen from 1890. It is wonderfully quiet in the middle of the polders. Further on you cross the Lek, cycling over the dike you have a beautiful view of the rippling water and the boats. You pass Nieuwpoort, a fortified town where you can spot many national monuments. At Streekcentrum Ooievaarsdorp Het Liesvelt you can get off for a while, before cycling back to Vertoeven bij Verhoeven via Molensgraaf and Bleskensgraaf.
