With this 250-kilometer ring road you will discover no fewer than 43 different windmills, powered by wind, horses, water or engines. Nowhere in Germany can you find so many different functioning mills as in the'mill district\\\' of the Teutoburg Forest.
Nostalgic windmills
The bike ride is more than a journey from one windmill to another. It is a nostalgic journey through time where you learn everything about the history of this special mill region. The cycle route takes you along the river Weser and the Wiehen Mountains and through lively towns. The mills you encounter along the way were in operation between April and October and are well worth a visit: where you can buy the tastiest regional specialties at one, you can enjoy interesting guided tours at others.
Comfortable on the road
The mill route can be cycled in a circle or star and consists of five or six stages. The route is well signposted. You can also have your luggage brought to your next place of residence, so you don't have to cycle everything in one day.
