Vechtdal line Zwolle - Dalfsen

The historic center of Zwolle
The starting point of this route is Zwolle station. From here you cycle into the centre of Zwolle. At the start of the route you can visit Museum de Fundatie, the museum for visual arts in Zwolle. A little further along the route you cycle past the mill body De Hersteller. This mill dates from 1807. In 1917 the mill was partially demolished, because the function of the mill had been taken over by a steam engine. Nowadays only the body of the mill remains. You cycle a bit along the canal from the historic centre to the north side of Zwolle. In the polders on the edge of Zwolle you pass the Agnietenberg and the Haersterveer. The Haersterveer is a cable ferry that has to be pulled by hand.

Along the water to Dalfsen
Then you cycle into the vast polders along the Zwarte Water. You have a beautiful wide view here and it is wonderfully quiet. Relaxing here should not be a problem at all. You follow the course of the river all the way to the station of Dalfsen.

The station in Dalfsen
Dalfsen is a beautiful village on the banks of the Vecht with a rich history and beautiful nature. This village was first mentioned in 1231, but the history of Dalfsen probably goes back much further. During excavations, a 3,000 year old road and a burial ground from the Stone Age were found. You can end your bike ride here and take the train home or continue the route back to Zwolle.
