Description
In the Land of Leeghwater you will not only find reclaimed land from the Golden Age, but also beautiful villages. Jump on your bike and discover the quintessential Dutch beauty. First you drive through the Beemster, a reclaimed land that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Middenbeemster is the oldest village in this polder, and you will find a special historic atmosphere here. Further on you will pass a number of forts from the Defense Line of Amsterdam. You cycle along the Markervaart to Graft and De Rijp. Get off every now and then to enjoy the beautiful old buildings. The last part of the route you drive over the dike that separates the Eilandspolder and the Beemster.
