Tour of the dunes and fortifications at Voorne-Putten

Beach, beautiful overgrown dunes where you will encounter numerous plants and animals: Voorne-Putten is so beautiful. And you will find nice fortified towns there!

Voornes Dune
You cycle to Oostvoorne via Voornes Duin. This area is one of the most species-rich dunes in Europe! There once was a tram line from Rotterdam to the beach boulevard of Oostvoorne. Many Rotterdammers still come here for a day at the seaside. The old village center includes the restored ruins of the medieval Jacoba Castle, the country residence of Jacoba of Bavaria. Just outside the village is the Oostvoorne, a flour mill from 1821.

Historic Brielle
You also pass through the old center of Brielle, the largely seventeenth-century fortress is one of the best preserved defenses in the Netherlands. You will see, among other things, the Flying Deer, a flour mill from 1862. Further on you will discover even more beautiful things: the ruins of Ravesteijn Castle, which is actually called Slot Heenvliet. The castle started as a wooden fortification around the year 1100. Back at your starting point, enjoy a drink at Resort Poort van Zeeland, near Hellevoetsluis.
