Historic tour from Emmeloord to Lemmer

A beautiful route across the Noordoostpolder, from Emmeloord to Lemmer. Here you will discover historic shipyards and a nice antiquities room. A journey back in time!

Lemsteraken
From your starting point near Emmeloord you will soon cycle along the IJsselmeer coast to Lemmer. Get off here at the Zeedijk. Lemmer had several slipways where ships could be built: on the Zeedijk was the slipway of the De Boer brothers. At the end of the 19th century, the first lemsteraken, a traditional Frisian sailing ship, were built here. Maintenance on the ships of the Lemster fishing fleet took place on the slopes of the Kortestreek.

Antiquity room
In Lemmer you can also visit the Lemmer museum, antiquities room'Lemster Fiifgea\\\'. It is located in the old town hall, a national monument. You will see Lemster kerfcut pottery, but also numerous references to fishing and painting, a period room from 1920 and many old photos. You drive back to Emmeloord via the Tjeukemeer.
