Along the Lek you walk through the beautiful floodplains. In the old city center of Culemborg you can enjoy the rich cultural history.
Fort Everdingen
From the heart of Culemborg you can walk to the Lek in no time. Get some fresh air while enjoying the view over the rippling water. You walk through the Baarsemwaard and Goilberdingerwaard: two bird-rich nature reserves that consist of a mix of flower-rich grassland, reed land, pollard willows and hawthorn bushes. You pass Werk aan het Spoel, in the landscape you can still see the constructed fortifications. Further on you pass Fort Everdingen from 1847.
Town Hall
Walking over the Diefdijk you will see a few bunkers in the vast polder landscape, these date from the Second World War. Back in Culemborg you will pass the Johanna, a corn mill from 1888. A little later you will seem to step back in time a little when you enter the old center of Culemborg. Here you will see, among other things, the beautiful centuries-old Lanxmeerpoort and the City Hall from 1539.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
