You walk along the Lek through the beautiful floodplains. You can enjoy the rich cultural history in the old town of Culemborg.
Fort Everdingen
From the heart of Culemborg you can walk to the Lek in no time. Get a breath of fresh air while enjoying the view over the rippling water. You walk through the Baarsemwaard and Goilberdingerwaard: two bird-rich natural areas that consist of a mix of flowery grassland, reed land, pollard willows and hawthorn bushes. You pass Werk aan het Spoel, in the landscape you can still see the built fortifications. Further on you will pass Fort Everdingen from 1847.
City Hall
Walking along the Diefdijk you can see a few bunkers in the wide polder landscape, these date from the Second World War. Back in Culemborg you pass the Johanna, a flour mill from 1888. A little later you seem to step back in time when you enter the old center of Culemborg. Here you can see, among other things, the beautiful ancient Lanxmeerpoort and the Town Hall from 1539.
