Tour De Hoep and Heemskerk

The region around Heemskerk, Beverwijk and Castricum is full of variety. You drive through wooded dunes, vast polders and through towns full of sights. Get off in Heemskerk at LAURENTZ OUT&ETEN for a snack and a drink! You pass the Fort at Veldhuis, where you can visit the Air War Museum. You cross the North Sea Canal, after which you drive through the Spaarnwoude recreation area with its beautiful forests and water features. Velsen-Zuid is the original core of the village of Velsen, which was split in two in the nineteenth century by the construction of the North Sea Canal. The picturesque area around the twelfth-century Engelmunduskerk enjoys a protected village view. From Wijk aan Zee you drive into the North Holland Dune Reserve, you learn more about it at the De Hoep visitor center.
