Description
You cycle through two beautiful regions on the Oude Maas: the Albrandswaard and the Hoeksche Waard. Here you will discover surprising nature reserves, water-rich polders and historical sights. You take the ferry across the Spui and the Oude Maas to Rhoon. While sailing you look out over Oud-Beijerland and the Rhoonse Grienden nature reserve. You drive over the dike to Poortugaal, a village that is probably named after Portugal. A little later you drive through the Valckesteijnse Forest, thanks to the many poplars the forest seems older than it is. In Rhoon you can enjoy the historic atmosphere, thanks to the fifteenth-century Rhoon Castle. In the Jan Gerritsepolder you pass the Gaatkensbult, a lookout hill with a beautiful panorama.
