Cycling through the Dutch lowlands

Between Purmerend, Zaandam and Wormerveer you will ride through the Dutch lowlands. Refuel while cycling over dikes and car-free roads along meadows and waterways. You will also discover beautiful old villages.

Zaanse Schans You haven't even warmed up your legs yet, or you should actually get off again. After all, that is the best way to take in all the impressions in the monumental Zaanse Schans. You will see several special museums here, so plan plenty of time for this route. Then you ride along the banks of the Zaan and later the Markervaart through a series of old houses and polders. How beautiful Holland is!

Oostzanerveld West-Graftdijk is a picturesque village, the Reformed Church dates from 1651. In Graft and De Rijp you will be amazed by the centuries-old wooden houses in Zaanse style. In the Oostzanerveld you can enjoy the silence. Here you pass the Paterspoel with the Suzanna Sluis, a place where a farmer eliminated several heavily armed Spanish soldiers during the Eighty Years' War.
