Description

The route starts at Harry\\\'s Tweewielers in Callantsoog. You drive a bit through the Donkere Duinen, a wonderfully quiet nature reserve formed from the remains of an old Wadden Island that grew on the mainland in the sixteenth century through drifting sand. At almost 64 meters, Lange Jaap is the highest cast-iron lighthouse in Europe. You will also cycle along the banks of the Marsdiep and the beautiful harbor of Den Helder. Get some fresh air! The route leads back through't Zand, a hamlet that arose in the early eighteenth century. The beautiful village church dates from 1863. You cross the Noordhollandsch Kanaal via one of the five remaining raft bridges in the Netherlands. Across the water is De Hoop, a restored flour mill that originally dates from 1860.
