Market Garden: the liberation of the Veluwezoom

Market Garden During Operation Market Garden, one of the largest airborne operations in history took place here in this region. Nearby, you will discover the Emergency Bridge Monument in Dieren, at the lock in the Apeldoorn Canal. In the spring of 1945, the population of Dieren and Spankeren built an emergency bridge across the lock here so that Canadian and British troops could make contact.
