The lock chamber between Spankeren and Dieren was d? place where the inhabitants of Dieren and the Allies together celebrated the retreat of the last Germans. Brencarriers full of cheering youth rolled over the emergency bridge built by the population. This cleared the way to the Veluwe, which was liberated in the following days.
