Get to know the center of Oberaudorf and the ruin of Auerberg with this short walking tour. Along the way you can enjoy historical sights and soak up the atmosphere of a real German town.
Straight through the center
From the Tourist-Information in Oberaudorf you walk along the Kirchenmauer (church wall) to the Oberfeldweg. Watch out for the green signs with'Schloßberg\\\'. At the school, turn right onto the pedestrian and cycle path and then continue until the main street. Then you walk further under the castle tower. At the next street, turn left onto'Am Schloßberg\\\'. At the next fork, follow the signs'Schloßberg\\\' on the left and climb the steps. Go straight on at the next fork and walk over the bridge to the ruins of the Auerburg.
Auerburg ruins
On the Schloßberg you will find a number of information boards about the history of the Auerburg. The descent goes back over the bridge as a circuit. At the next exit keep left in the direction of Oberaudorf. You walk past a historic feed barn and a road cross towards Auerburgstraße. Keep left here and after crossing the street, continue on the pedestrian and cycle path. You walk back to the center on the Oberfeldweg.
Special sights
In the castle tower in Oberaudorf you can visit the Audorfer Museum (open Tuesdays and Sundays from May to October between 2 and 6 pm) to learn more about the history of this area. Also take the time to admire the ruins of Auerburg extensively. There was probably a castle on this spot in the 12th century.
